Around lunchtime it was when the first eruption began in Pompeii. It was around 79 A.D. People of that time did not know of the dangers on this volcano. People in this Italian city did not take the warning and ignored it.
People started to notice things happening to the mountain later on. Many had realized the danger. Even though many tried to take shelter, their was no escape. The volcano erupted. Within 19 hours, the town was silent. It was left in ashes and pumice for 1700 years.
